Guiding Best Practice
THE CHALLENGE:
Rangers need to follow best practices to improve conservation outcomes for wildlife and wild places.
OUR RESPONSE:
To guide best practice, the Game Rangers' Association of Africa assesses the needs of rangers through in-field assessments focused on management effectiveness, ranger support and operational capability.
By identifying the critical next steps required to improve management effectiveness, we support protected area managers and rangers in protecting wildlife and wild places.
The GRAA believes that professionalising the ranger profession requires clear and consistent standards. We have contributed to the following guidelines and resources:
- Download Ranger Training Guidelines and Recommendations (PDF)
- Download Guidelines and Scope of Practice for African Rangers First Aid (PDF)
- Download IRF Code of Conduct (PDF) – The GRAA advocates that all rangers and ranger employers adopt this Code of Conduct.
- Download Minimum Guidelines for Rangers Regarding Human Rights (PDF)
