This annual event recognises and celebrates the extraordinary individuals and teams who dedicate their lives to protecting Africa’s wildlife, wild spaces, and coastal environments.
The Game Rangers' Association of Africa (GRAA) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2024 African Conservation Awards. This prestigious annual celebration recognises the vital contributions of rangers and their supporters in conservation efforts across the magnificent land and seascapes of Africa.
We are excited to announce the modification of the categories as well as the introduction of the Marine Ranger category.
On World Ranger Day, we celebrate the vital role of rangers in conservation and honour those who have sacrificed their lives protecting nature. Rangers are the custodians of our planet, essential to advancing global biodiversity goals and ensuring a sustainable future for both people and nature. Their work in managing vast areas of land and water significantly contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including the target of protecting 30% of the planet by 2030 (30x30).
The GRAA has identified a need for more specialized and focused training amongst Africa's rangers and in response to this launched a Ranger Training Bursary Fund.
We, the Rangers of Africa hereby declare that, as nature’s protectors and custodians we remain fully committed to efficiently and effectively carry out our duties, to the very best of our ability and with absolute integrity, to safeguard natural resources and wild spaces for the benefit of present and future generations.
